Abstract
This study was a prospective observational cohort study of heart failure adults admitted at the De La Salle University Medical Center. The patients were screened for sarcopenia. Other data were collected from the medical charts during the patients admission. A total of 108 hospitalized adult heart failure patients was needed for this study. Overall, 16 (15%) died, of which one had sarcopenia. All patients who had a MACE outcome had no sarcopenia (n=8). An insufficient evidence was found to state any differences between those with and without sarcopenia in terms of mortality and MACE. A sufficient evidence was found to state any significant association between sarcopenia with MACE but proved that it was significantly associated with mortality.
