Abstract
Ventricular standstill is a rare yet fatal form of arrhythmia which occurs when there is cessation of supraventricular impulse formation or blockage in the transmission of these impulses from the atria to the ventricles and also failure of ventricular escape pacemakers to substitute for the supraventricular pacemakers. It could manifest as dizziness, syncope, and cardiac arrest, if prolonged. The importance of this study is to emphasize the need for cardiac or Holter monitoring to document life threatening arrhythmias and initiate immediate medical interventions. As such it is also better to identify those individuals at risk of sudden cardiac death due to the acute viral myocarditis, as well as identifying those most likely to develop a dilated cardiomyopathy or heat failure as these patients have higher mortality or a complicated disease course.
