Silent strike : a case study of papillary thyroid carcinoma

Abstract

A case of 15 years old female with anterior neck mass was presented. No hoarseness , dysphagia, and dyspnea were noted, but increase in size were noted. Work ups done revealed papillary thyroid carcinoma. Hence total thyroidectomy followed by radioactive ablation therapy was done. In DLSUMC this is only the 3rd case of papillary thyroid carcinoma in children below 20 years old in the last 10 years, and only the 2nd case that undergo radioactive ablation therapy in our institution in the last 10 years for children below 20 years of age. Clinically, PTC presents as asymptomatic thyroid.
