Abstract
A cross-sectional study review of medical records of patients who came in for HIV screening and were tested positive for the first time from May of 2013 through May of 20167. Patients' demographic and clinical data were retrieved from the Blood Bank of De La Salle University Medical Center. The names of the patients who tested positive were then searched in the Medical Records Section to determine whether the patient was admitted or not during the study period. This study has been consistent with the local data that the most commonly affected group are men who practice homosexual acts which is parallel to the global trend of shift of transmission from heterosexual to homosexual. a formal education even attainment of a college degree does not prevent transmission of this sexually-transmitted infection.
