Abstract

The objectives of the study is to determine the association of biopsychosocial factors in terms of self-efficacy, sense of control and social support, in the control of hypertension among hypertensive patients age 18 and older, seen in DLSUMC FM OPD from March to June 2012, to determine the prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension among hypertensive patients age 18 and older; to determine who among the patients have or have no self efficacy, sense of control and social support; to compare the proportion of patients with self efficacy, sense of control and social support among those with controlled and uncontrolled hypertension; to compare the proportion of patients with good and poor compliance with medications and low salt, low fat diet among those with self-efficacy, sense of control and social support; to determine if good compliance with medications and low salt, low fat diet is positively associated with control of hypertension.
