Abstract
The researchers conducted a study on "the antibacterial properties of aqueous annona muricata (guyabano) peel extract against escherichia coli in vitro". The result of this research showed that various concentrations of aqueous extract of the peel of the Annona muricata fruit had no antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli in vitro. Although previous studies have indicated some positive results, the researchers believe that while Annona muricata has demonstrated antibiotic activity in previous studies, the active compounds (Annonaceousacetogenins) were of low concentration in the fruit's skin. Thus, the aqueous preparation of guyabano extract and its concentrations used were not an effective agent against the growth of Escherichia coli.
