Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effects of massage and music therapy on the biophysiologic processes of clients with Hypertension in Dasmariñas and Mendez, Cavite. B. Specific Objectives: 1. To determine the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status and occupation? 2. To determine the biophysiologic processes fo clients with Hypertension between those who are exposed and not exposed to Masssage and Music Therapy? 3. To determine if there are significant differences in the biophysiologic processes of clients with Hypertension between those who are exposed and not exposed to Massage and Music Therapy? Methodology: This study utilized the quasi-experimental design specifcally the nonequivalent control group design or the pretest and posttest design. The independent variable - massage and music therapy - whose effects on the dependent vaiables - biophysiologic processes of clients with Hypertension - was observed. Using the quasi-experimental design specifically non-equivalent control type of study, a control group and treatment group differed in terms of their biophysiologic processes. In the treatment group, the biophysiologic processes was determined before and after implementing the massage and music therapy as nursing intervention. In the control group, the biophysiologic processes were further assessed in the same way as the treatment group. The only difference was that, in the control group they were not exposed to the intervention. The study was carried out to clients with hypertension in Dasmariñas and 45 years old who were the recipient of the massage and music therapy. A total of twenty (20) respondents were included in the treatment group who were exposed to the said therapies which were taken from Mendez, Cavite. Likewise, twenty (20) study participants from the Dasmariñas, Cavite were assigned as the control group wherein there was no exposure to the interventions. The resercher used the "Biophysiologic Process Response Rating Scale", a modified adapted tool from Laurente (in Chavez, 2008), "The Vital Signs Anxiety Response Rating Scale". Actual data gathering was conducted in the Dasmariñas and Mendez, Cavite. Data were subjected to statistical treatments such as percentage, mean, T-test and analysis of variance via F-test.
