Abstract
Digital competency has become an essential skill for students’ academic success in the 21st century, particularly as education increasingly integrates technology into learning. This study assessed the level of digital competency of Senior High School students in Dasmariñas, Cavite and examined whether significant differences exist when grouped according to sex, age, grade level, strand, and family income. The study used a quantitative research design with 271 respondents from Grades 11 and 12. A questionnaire adapted from the DigComp framework was utilized, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The results revealed that students demonstrated a Moderate to High level of digital competency, with stronger performance in basic digital tasks and lower proficiency in more advanced skills. The findings showed no significant difference in digital competency by sex. However, significant differences were observed across age, grade level, academic strands, and family income, with older learners, Grade 12 students, ICT strand students, and those from higher-income households showing higher digital proficiency. These results highlight the importance of strengthening equitable digital competency development among learners, particularly for younger students, those from lower-income households, and non-ICT strands, to ensure that all students are sufficiently prepared for technology-driven academic and future workplace demands.
