Abstract
This study investigates the perceived impact of TikTok on the selfconcept of senior high school students at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSMHSI). The research aims to identify and understand the factors influencing and developing senior high school students’ self-concept. By analyzing the demographic profile of the respondents, the study further investigated how other factors affect a teenager’s self-concept. The data was collected from 260 respondents using a self-made and adapted questionnaire. The online survey contained questions about demographics, average TikTok screen time, and self-concept-related questions using a Likert scale. Results indicate that TikTok is teenagers' most commonly used platform where they can present their true selves. The findings of this study have shown that the perceived impact of TikTok on the DLSMHSI senior high school students, whether they are TikTok content creators or viewers, significantly experiences a somewhat moderate effect on their self-concept. To further explore this study, the researchers recommend a further comparative study about the perceived influence of TikTok on the self-concept between TikTok content creators and TikTok viewers.
