Abstract

This research study aims to recognize the diverse learning styles of students as crucial for creating a more inclusive and effective educational environment through the application of the VARK Model (Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Kinesthetic). The study focuses on the specialized subject of Foundations to Health Care at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. Understanding that learning is not one-size-fits-all, this study delves into the necessity of acknowledging varied learning styles, aptitudes and abilities of learners in the teaching process to provide each student the best opportunity to succeed academically. Employing a correlational quantitative research design and stratified random sampling, data is gathered via Google Forms from 198 selected Grade 12 respondents. Findings reveal a weak and statistically insignificant relationship between learning styles and the VARK Model teaching approach. However, the study emphasizes the importance of understanding diverse learning needs in enhancing educational outcomes. This study aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) as it advocates for inclusive and equitable quality education that meets the diverse learning needs of all students. The results contribute to the development of student-centered learning environments, particularly in specialized subjects like Foundations to Health Care, and encourage teachers to explore diverse teaching methods. By optimizing teaching methods based on students’ learning styles, this study fosters lifelong opportunities for individuals.
