Abstract

The prevalence of gaming as a recreational activity among students raises concerns about the potential risks associated with excessive time spent gaming and its impact on academic compliance. Thus, the present study aims to determine the relationship between Gaming Frequency and Academic Compliance of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute Senior High School students. A quantitative correlational design was conducted, through disseminating researcher-made test surveys. Among the 102 student gamer respondents, it was identified that most of them are casual gamers and are compliant in school. The Chi-Square test has proven that there is no significant relationship between Gaming Frequency and Academic Compliance. The present study therefore concludes that the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute Senior High School students are able to manage their Academic compliance alongside gaming. Nonetheless, the researchers suggest a further exploration to other factors that might affect a student’s academic compliance and encourage the future researchers that will be working on the same field, to include other factors, such as the quality of their work, and expand the sample size, demographics, and location.
