Abstract

This study compares the perception of effectiveness and preferability of the grade 12 students in De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute between synchronous and asynchronous learning modalities; and indicates which parameter or factor affects said terms to both modalities. The researchers conducted this study to evaluate the sudden changes in the implementation of classes. A total of 120 grade 12 students are sampled and given a questionnaire that consists of 60 statements that can be answered through the Four-Point Likert scale. The study resulted in which asynchronous learning modalities are perceived as effective and preferred, while socio-economical has the most impact on both perceived effectiveness and preferability of the grade 12 students. In conclusion, asynchronous learning modalities are more preferred and perceived as effective by grade 12 students. Additionally, network, power, noise, personal space, and lack of gadgets are seldom a problem, while the instructors' knowledge, learning pace, acknowledgment of queries, character, and uniqueness are somewhat demonstrated in synchronous and asynchronous learning modalities. Findings suggest that the institution can further improve the implementation of both learning modalities while considering the factors that affect the perception of effectiveness and preferability.
