Abstract

With the onset of COVID-19, essential workers, particularly convenience store clerks, experienced significant changes that posed a threat to their health, causing them to develop Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Social apprehension. This study aimed to compare the four apprehensions to determine if there is a significant difference when grouped according to the demographic profiles. The study obtained 100 respondents. Non-proportional sampling and a 4-point Likert scale were used to assess their perceptions. It was acquired through online platforms within 17 days. Upon data analysis, 78% of the respondents ranged from 18-27 years old, 52% were female, 85% were single, and 27% were workers from Dasmariñas City, Cavite. Moreover, in One-way ANOVA, the

difference between the four apprehensions was highly significant with a p- value of less than 0.01, and the highest perceived influence was physical

apprehension with a highly positive and evident interpretation. Thus, the first null hypothesis was rejected as workers were generally uneasy about their health resulting to reinforced proper hygiene and equipment. Also, there was no significant difference between the perceived influence of apprehension based on the demographic profile of the respondents as all the p-values were less than 0.05. Therefore, the study failed to reject the second null hypothesis; hence, regardless of the demographic profile of the convenience store clerks, they had the same perceived influence of apprehension while working during the pandemic. This recommends the future researchers to delve further into correlating the effect of apprehensions with work productivity.
