Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online classes are utilized in the Philippines therefore the researchers have thought of determining if parents are still able to perform their role on supporting and engaging on their child’s studies in online classes. The aim of this study is to compare the level of support and engagement of parents in the conduct of online classes of their school-aged children. An online survey was conducted and were given to the respondents who were selected through referral sampling. After conducting the data gathering, results of the study revealed that the level of support is higher than the level of engagement of parents in the conduct of online classes of their school-age children, although both were fully exhibited. This indicates that when a parent is supportive, it does not mean that they are engaged as well which suggests that parents need to cultivate engagement as they are both important to in a child’s learning.
