Abstract

Research on the species listing of macrofungi in Marinduque Wildlife Sanctuary in the Philippines was conducted from November 2022 to January 2023. The macrofungi were documented across habitats of primary and secondary forests, riparian areas, agricultural land, and grassland. A line transect of 1000 m was established at each study site where macrofungi were collected using opportunistic sampling. The collected species were identified based on the macrofungi’s morphological attributes. A total of 149 morphospecies, belonging to 87 genera and 45 families, were documented, with the family Polyporaceae and the genus Mycena identified as the most dominant. Macrofungi species were also found to be most prevalent in forested areas. Each habitat also showed more unique species than shared species across habitats. This study was the first to unveil rich fungal flora in the province of Marinduque.
