Abstract

COVID-19 remains to be a major public health burden worldwide. In response to the ongoing pandemic, significant advancement in vaccine development has been witnessed in the past year, and several vaccines have since become available for public use. However, as the world tries to minimize the disease burden of COVID-19, another challenge presents itself in the form of vaccine hesitancy. The Vaccine Hesitancy Determinants Matrix of the WHO outlined the causes for vaccine hesitancy into three main categories: Contextual, Individual and Group, and Vaccination-Specific influences. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine which among the three factors of contextual influences, individual and group influences, and vaccination-specific issues contributed the most towards vaccine hesitancy in medical students of DLSMHSI. The study used a stratified random sampling method which divided the target population into four strata (based on student year level) wherein random samples were selected. Data were collected through an online self-administered survey and were measured using a modified COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy Scale. Frequency distribution, descriptive statistics, and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the responses.
