Abstract
A total number of 102 respondents were able to complete the study. Furthermore, the profile of the respondents in terms of sex, age, area of work, and length of service was also examined. Descriptive research design and a self-made questionnaire were used for the data gathering of the study, and purposive sampling method was used in the selection of the participants in the study. For the statistical treatment of the data, frequency and percentage were used in analyzing and interpreting the gathered data from the respondents. The findings of the study reveal that majority of the respondents are aged 25 to 34 years old, and are mostly female radiologic technologists. Most of them work in general radiology and have been in service for 0-5 years. In terms of the perceived musculoskeletal discomfort (MSD), the respondents experienced pain or discomfort at work in the neck, lower back, upper back, and shoulder regions of the body, with lower back pain as the most frequently perceived MSD accompanied by moderate pain or discomfort. In addition, opinion of the respondents as regards how or why they experience MSD at work were also gathered from the open-ended question included at the last part of the questionnaire. The findings reveal that the respondents associate the occurrence of MSD to forceful exertions (equipment or patient handling tasks) and repetition of movement (prolonged sitting, standing, and walking).
