Abstract

A correlational research design was used in this study that included 409 respondents from barangays in Bacoor City, Cavite, utilizing quota sampling technique. A self-made questionnaire was used by the researchers to obtain the information that was needed in the study. Data gathered was treated using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent means, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient. Based on the findings of the study, these conclusions were drawn: 1) majority of the respondents belong ages 18 to 40 years old or young adult, female, attained college level, employed, and had month family income of Php 10,000 and below; 2) the respondents have fair knowledge about leptospirosis; 3) the respondents sometimes practiced preventive practices about leptospirosis; 4) the respondents sometimes practiced control practice about leptospirosis; 5) there were no significant differences in knowledge of the respondents regarding leptospirosis when grouped according into age, gender, educational attainment, employment status, and socio-economic status; 6) there were no significant differences in preventive practices of the respondents regarding leptospirosis when grouped into gender, educational attainment, employment status, and socio-economic status; 7) there were no significant differences in control practices of the respondents regarding leptospirosis when grouped into gender, educational attainment, employment status and monthly family income; 8) the was a small significant negative relationship between knowledge and prevention practices.
