Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the preferred teaching strategies of 1st year Radiologic Technology students of De La Salle-Health Sciences Campus (DLS-HSC) in General and Inorganic Chemistry subject. This study attempted to answer the following problems: (1) What were the profiles of the respondents in terms of gender? (2) What were the preferred teaching strategies of 1st year Radiologic Technology students, SY 2005-2006 of DLS-HSC in General and Inorganic Chemistry subject? (3) Were there any significant differences with the preferred teaching strategies of the respondents when grouped according to gender? The descriptive method of research was used in this study. The researchers conducted a survey with the use of questionnaires given to the respondents. Statistical treatments were used in the study such as the frequency, sum, percentage and chi-square test to obtain the findings. The research study involves all 64 1st year Radiologic Technology students of DLS-HSC in determining their preferred teaching strategy in the subject General and Inorganic Chemistry. Based on the findings, the following conclusions were made: (1) Majority of the respondents were female. (2) The three most preferred teaching strategy of the 1st year Radiologic technology students of DLS-HSC SY 2005-2006 in General and inorganic Chemistry was found to be lecture-discussion (206), viewing and listening (242) and practice and drill (346). (3) The three least preferred teaching strategy of the 1st year Radiologic Technology students of DLS-HSC SY 2005-2006 in General and Inorganic Chemistry was found to be dyad (356), creative pedagogy (535) and Poem Composition (626). (4) The preferred teaching strategy of the 1st year radiologic technology students of De La Salle Health Sciences Campus SY 2005-2006 was found to be insignificantly different when they are grouped according to gender.
