Abstract
This study focused on the knowledge and practices of selected women on preventing of breast cancer. Specifically, the study attempted to answer to the following problem: (1) What is the profile of the respondents according to age, civil status, monthly income and educational attainment? (2) What is the knowledge of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer? (3) What are the practices of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer? (4) Is there a significant difference in the knowledge of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer when they are grouped according to age, civil status, monthly income and educational attainment. (5) Is there a significant difference in the practices of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer when they grouped according to age, civil status, monthly income and educational attainment? (6) Is there a relationship between the knowledge and practices of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer? In the light of the findings made through the analysis and evaluation of the data obtained, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) Majority of the respondents belonged to the age brackets 29-39 years old most of the respondents were married, it also showed that majority of the respondents were receiving a monthly income P10,000 below, and almost all of the respondents were on the high school level. (2) The knowledge of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer was said to be moderate, because majority of the respondents got the moderate score of 59% which was greater than the other two score. (3) The practices of the respondents in the prevention of breast cancer was to be moderate, because majority of the respondents got the moderate score of 83%, which was greater that the other two score. (4) There is no exact proof according to statistician on age, civil status, monthly income, and educational attainment on the knowledge of the respondents which are all no differences base on statistical significant. (5) When the respondents are grouped according to age, civil status, education attainment, there is no significant difference found in the practices of the respondents in preventing breast cancer, except monthly income. (6) There is no sufficient evidence to conclude significant relationship between knowledge and practices.
