Abstract

Descriptive method of research was used in this study. The survey was conducted using a self-made questionnaire which was based on different international documents, American College of Emergency Physicians, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the book Practical Guide to Emergency Ultrasound. Purposive sampling was used to determine the respondents of the study. The respondents are the radiologic technologists in selected hospitals in Cavite and in Metro Manila. A total of 58 respondents participated in the study. Data was analyzed using mean, percentage, frequency, analysis of variance, and independent sample t-test. The results showed that (1) the radiologic technologists are very competent in performing FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) examination in selected hospitals in Cavite and in Metro Manila; (2) there are no significant differences in the competency of the radiologic technologists in performing FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) examination in selected hospitals in Cavite and in Metro Manila when they are grouped according to gender, hospital category and years of service.
