Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship the knowledge in radiology and attitude towards X-ray services. The respondents were composed of sixty (60) medical professionals, sixty (60) non-medical professionals and sixty (60) non-professionals. This research study attempted to determine the relationship between level of knowledge in radiology and attitude of the respondents toward X-ray services. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: (1) What is the general level of knowledge in radiology and technologic services of the respondents in this study? (2) When the respondents are grouped according to level of education, what is their level of knowledge about radiology and radiologic services? (3) Is there a relationship between level of education and level of knowledge in radiology? (4) What is the general attitude of the respondents toward x-ray services? (5) When grouped according to level of education, what is the attitude of the respondents towards x-ray services? (6) Is there a relationship between the respondents level of education and their attitude towards x-ray services? (7) When grouped according to level of knowledge in radiology, what is the attitude of the respondents towards x-ray services? (8) Is there a relationship between its respondents ' level of knowledge in radiology and their attitude towards x-ray services. In the light of the above findings, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) The three groups of respondents were mostly aware of the different radiology examinations and their importance in detecting and diagnosing ailments. (2) The observed differences between the respondents' level of education and their level of knowledge in radiology were found not statistically significant. This means that regardless of educational background, the respondents had enough knowledge about radiology and its services, This may attributed to exposure to modern medical techniques through the media and the respondents' own experiences. (3) The three groups were mostly positive in their outlook about what x-ray examinations could do for the patients' welfare. (4) Regardless of educational background, the slight differences in attitude towards x-ray services did not reflect statistical significance. (5) The respondents' attitude towards x-ray services did not significantly differ even though some of them had only slightly adequate and some inadequate knowledge in radiology.
