Abstract

This study used the pre-test-post-test control group design involving 54 second year radiologic technology students who were randomly assigned to the treatment and control groups. Stratified sampling was used . A memory recall test in nuclear medicine was developed to gather the needed data. The instrument was subjected to the test of validity. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent samples, and t-test for dependent samples were the statistical tools used in the study. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn: 1) majority of the participants in the control and treatment groups are female; 2) The participants in the control group had fair memory recall in nuclear medicine both the pre-test and post-test, while the participants in the treatment group had fair memory recall before the application of classical music and good memory recall after the application of classical music; 3) Memory recall in nuclear medicine of the participants in the control and treatment groups before and after the application of classical music is the same, regardless of their gender; 4) There is a significant improvement in the memory recall in nuclear medicine of the participants in the control group even in the absence of classical music. Significant improvement was also observed in the memory recall in nuclear medicine of the participants in the treatment group after application of classical music; 5) Memory recall in nuclear medicine of the control and treatment groups is the same before the application of classical music. On the other hand, statistically good memory recall in nuclear medicine of the treatment group was noted as compared to the control group after the application of classical music; 6) Classical music is an effective intervention in improving memory recall in nuclear medicine.
