Abstract
A descriptive correlation research design was employed in this study. Self-made questionnaires based on the FDA-CDRRHR's lists of the radiation protection equipment required in general radiography section were used in this study. The chief radiologic technologists helped evaluate the adequacy of radiation protection equipment in the hospital and the radiologic technologists provided the information in the extent of use of the radiation protection equipment. The hospitals' profile include the type and level of the hospital. The respondents' demographic profile include their age, gender and length of employment. Frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test of independent samples, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Chi-square were used in this study. The study concluded that, 1) most of the selected hospitals in Cavite are private and nearly half are level 2; 2) most of the respondents are 29 years old and below, with the most number of respondents having 1 to 3 years working experience. There are equal number of male and female respondents in the study; 3) most of the selected hospitals in Cavite had inadequate radiation protection equipment; 4) the extent of use of radiation protection equipment in the selected hospitals in Cavite are moderate extent. The lead aprons are used to a very high extent, lead gloves and contact gonadal shielding are used to a low extent and lead goggles are used to a very low extent; 5) there are no significant differences in the extent of use of radiation protection equipment in the selected hospitals in Cavite when the respondents are grouped according to their age, gender and length of employment; 6) there is no significant relationship between the adequacy and extent of use of radiation protection equipment in selected hospitals in Cavite.
