Abstract
Demographic variables included were gender, age, civil status, educational attainment, monthly family income and religious affiliation. The study used a descriptive research method. A sample of 387 residents of Barangay Salinas I, Bacoor, Cavite was included as respondents of the study. A self-made questionnaire was used to measure the perception of selected residents of Barangay Salinas I, Bacoor, Cavite. Statistical tools used in the study included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, analysis of variance and t-test for independent means. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn: (1) most of the respondents are female, married, Catholic, belonging to age group of 30 years old and below with a monthly family income of 5,001 to 10,000 pesos and has attained high school level; (2) the respondents have a low positive perception on reproductive health; (3) the respondents have the same perception regarding reproductive health regardless of their monthly family income and religious affiliation; (4) the respondents’ positive perception regarding reproductive health increases with age. Older respondents have high positive perception regarding reproductive health compared to younger respondents; (5) female respondents have high positive perception regarding reproductive health compared to male respondents; (6) respondents who have no formal education and are elementary graduates have high positive perceptions regarding reproductive health compared to those respondents with post graduate degrees; (7) widowed and separated respondents have significantly high positive perception on reproductive health followed by married respondents. Single respondents have the lowest perception regarding reproductive health.
