Abstract
Chapter 3 section 20 of Republic Act No. 7277 or the Magna Carta for the disabled persons at all levels of healthcare. In the primary level of health care this is made possible through community/barangay health workers (BHW's) trained on Rehabilitation Medicine. This study therefore, is an important step toward making physical rehabilitation services available to disabled persons, especially in the rural communities. Our main objective is to determine the possibility of incorporating physical rehabilitation in the training of BHW's of International Institute of Rural Reconstruction, which is a non-government institution in Primary Health Care. As a result of the study, the IIRR and the Federation Health Committee agreed to the proposal, and are hoping for its implementation in the near future. But potential problems such as logistics, number of BHW's to be trained and the time and frequency of training must be carefully planned and managed before beginning the implementation.
