Abstract

This qualitative study was conducted to find out whether of not it is feasible to establish a PT rehabilitation Center in Alfonso, Cavite. This study was conducted in coordination with assistant medical director, staff doctors and hospital personnel of the DLSU-Dr. Rodolfo Poblete Memorial Hospital. A personal interview was done to both medical and hospital personnel asking their views about rehabilitation and physical therapy and to see if there is a need for PT clinic to be put up in Alfonso, Cavite. In addition to this, the proponents of the study have reviewed and examined the hospital records for the past two years- from 1993-1994. Based on this undertaking previously done, it was found out that the DLSU-Dr. Rodolfo Poblete Memorial Hospital doesn't need a PT clinic. However, with the hospital's present architectural status, establishing a clinic would not be possible due to lack of sufficient space. Such, is a very important factor that should be primarily considered. From the hospital's previous records, it was also found out that the patients which the hospital attends to were needing more of medical intervention rather than PT intervention. Furthermore, the hospital only referrals for PT stroke patients wherein the numbers of which were not documented. Upon considering such limitations to the study; the site, the availability of space needed, the clinical conditions referred for PT and the number of patients that needs Physical Therapy services; the proponents themselves has to come to the conclusion that establishing a PT Rehabilitation Center in Alfonso, Cavite is not feasible at this point in time and this necessitates the need for the follow up study to be conducted.
