Abstract

Taekwondo is not only a form of self-defense but also a well-loved sport, to some. Youth and even adults in the country today. The success of being a good Taekwondo practitioner depends on the quality of training he is able to get. This prompted the researchers to make a study of training he is able to get. This prompted the researchers to make a study on the nature of conditioning exercises of the Gemini Gym Taekwondo practitioners are getting, so that the appropriate recommendations may be given for improvement of the team. The study was conducted at Geminie Gym in Pamplona, Las Piñas. This intervention study is aimed to educate a particular group of Taekwondo practitioners on the principles of proper conditioning exercises. The study was participated by 20 Taekwondo practitioners from Gemini Gym Las Piñas. The subjects aged ranged from 16 to 39 y/o and were not involved in any sports. The researchers method of data collection was through observation and informal interview. Data gathered were analyzed based on the results of the Pretest and post test composed of 20 questions each formulated in English dialect. As we have observed the existing training program of the Gemini Gym Taekwondo practitioners is basically sound except that there are still faulty technique being practices and they still law knowledge on various exercise guidelines. After the interventions were made, a significant improvement was noted regard their knowledge on the four areas of exercise program, which includes warm-up, strengthening, entrance and cool down exercises. This was proven by the results of the pre-test and post-test examination and by their good performance in their return demonstration. Based on these endings the researchers concluded that the practitioners have significantly improved in their knowledge and performance regarding the four aspects of conditioning exercises. The practitioners law knowledge improves in performance of the exercise mentioned in the manual, we also recommend that each player be evaluated of the detailed criteria on the components (starting position, execution.) of exercises so as to avoid subjectivity.
