This study aimed at the identifying the proportion of ballgame players who sustained an injury; types of sports injuries and classifying the three most common musculoskeletal injuries according to type of motion and body parts affected. This study was done in the PCSM located in Vito Cruz, Manila. Subjects were 1999 SEA Ballgame players, regardless of age, sex, type of injury, body parts affected and the type of ballgame played. The PCSM physiatrist and clinical supervisor served as an informant for the completion of this research. Checklist was given and review of records was done by the clinical supervisor. Summary of the results obtained were analyzed and frequency distribution tables were made for data presentation. Results showed that 13.63% of the total number of ballgame players were injured in the 1999 SEA Games Competition. The three most common sports injuries were strain (50%), sprain (40%) and tendon injuries (10%). As to the type of motion, running caused most of the injuries (50%). As to body parts involved, back was the most commonly injured (40%). The authors would like to recommend to have a follow-up study of this research.
