Abstract

The study utilized a quasi-experimental type of design set on two (2) school-based clinics of De La Salle HSI CRS and some from the Municapality of Silang. Purposive sampling method was used to select respondents based on the criteria of selection. A 15-item self-made questionnaire based on the respective principles of positioning of children with cerebral palsy as a pre-test and post-test was given to the respondents. Data collected from the pre-test and post-test was analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, correlated t-test and grading system. Video presentation is an effective means in increasing knowledge of caregivers regarding proper handling of children with cerebral palsy. After the respondents watched the video presentation, the scores of the post-test is higher than the scores of the pre-test. Aside from the other learning materials such as reading books, teaching, discussions and actual skill demonstration, the use of video presentation in presenting information is also effective. Advantages present in having a video presentation are it can be paused for deeper discussion and replayed as needed; equipment is getting cheaper to use and purchase; can record ‘before’, ‘during’ and ‘after’ steps in process; can be played back immediately.
