Abstract

The study employed a descriptive, quantitative research design. A self-administered KAP survey was utilized and distributed through an online database. Two hundred ninety eight respondents (298) were selected through convenience sampling technique. Using the IBM SPSS Statistics version 25 software, descriptive analysis and Chi-square statistics were performed to analyze the obtained data from the participants. For the descriptive analysis, mean values interpreted the respondents’ level of KAP while for the Chi-square results, a p-value of 0.05 was used to determine a significant relationship. The results of the study revealed that a great majority (67.64%) of the respondents were knowledgeable about medicine disposal. Their knowledge was found to be affected by both age (p=0.003) and year level (p=0.001). Additionally, the attitude of the respondents showed strong agreements and was associated with age (p=0.035) only. In terms of practice, slightly more than half (54.41%) of the students practice proper medicine disposal. Their practice was not related to any sociodemographic characteristics. In conclusion, although the respondents show excellent attitude, they only have good knowledge and perform good practice of proper medicine disposal.
