Abstract
Box-Behnken design was applied to come up into 15 set-ups for the optimization in alkaline pre-treatment by using sodium and potassium hydroxide with varying reaction cocentration, temperature and time and to determine their effects on the percentage yield of PS-MCC. Difference physicochemical characterization tests were also performed such as FTIR, SEM and other tests and the PS-MCC was compared with the Standard MCC. The results of this study successfully optimized the microcrystalline extraction of peanut shells, and it can be a potential alternative source of microcrystalline cellulose.
