Abstract
Tobacco use and vaping remain significant public health issues among Filipino students, primarily driven by stress, peer influence, and limited access to cessation resources. Telepharmacy provides opportunities to enhance access to healthcare, improve medication management, and serves as a platform for delivering pharmaceutical services in a more efficient and timely manner, particularly in areas where face-to-face interactions may be limited. This study aimed to assess the perceptions, attitudes, and willingness to use telepharmacy services as a cessation tool among undergraduate smokers and vapers in a private higher education institution in Cavite, Philippines. A quantitative research design was employed with a total of 132 undergraduate smokers and vapers recruited using quota sampling across seven colleges in an academic institution. Data were collected via online questionnaire and analyzed using Stata 18.0, wherein descriptive statistics and simple and multiple regression were used to identify significant relationships between socio-demographic characteristics and respondents' perception, attitude, and willingness to use telepharmacy. Results suggest moderate overall perceptions, attitudes, and willingness toward telepharmacy, with no significant associations between socio-demographic factors and these outcomes. However, the findings were able to highlight telepharmacy's potential as a smoking/vaping cessation tool, particularly when offered telepharmacy's potential as an accessible smoking / vaping cessation tool among undergraduate students providing personalized intervention and flexible consultation scheduling with healthcare professionals. With this, nicotine dependence can be managed properly leading to better health outcomes. Telepharmacy is an evidence-based, accessible intervention with high potential for assisting smoking and vaping cessation among undergraduate students. By incorporating telepharmacy into institution health programs, it has the potential to enhance student health outcomes status and treat nicotine dependence.
