Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about a shift in the service delivery method of occupational therapists (OT) in the Philippines. It has pushed the rehabilitation team to find different ways to provide services to children with neurodevelopmental disorders (CWNDD). Through this, the emergence of telehealth programs for provision of services as an alternative to the traditional onsite therapy session is now being utilized by numerous rehabilitation clinics and professionals. The rise of telehealth programs has driven this study to determine the quality of OT services provided among CWNDD based on the perspective of primary caregivers and occupational therapists in Cavite amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to identify the facilitating factors and strategies that influence the satisfaction of both occupational therapist and primary caregiver. This study is a qualitative research design that utilized a descriptive qualitative research method as it aims to understand the insight of participants regarding their telehealth experience. The snowball sampling was used to gather the participants and a questionnaire was distributed online to the determined 14 participants of the study. From their responses, extracted codes and common themes, qualitative content analysis was used to categorize and analyze the data. The researchers came up with four major themes (overarching themes) related to specific objectives to explain and characterized the perspective of participants on their experiences on accessing and providing telehealth services. These themes are Prerequisites for Telehealth Delivery, Barriers in Delivery of Telehealth, Delivery of Telehealth Sessions, and Advantages of OT Telehealth Delivery which support and negate the quality of telehealth services amid COVID-19 pandemic.
