Abstract

The general objective of the study was to identify the factors limiting CWSN aged 6 to 12 years old from receiving OT services in Dasmariñas, Cavite. The diagnoses of CWSNs involved were Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Cerebral Palsy. The four factors identified were financial capability, OT practitioner availability, awareness of the profession, and accessibility. Using a descriptive quantitative research design, two types of questionnaires were created: a questionnaire for those who have never availed OT services that will gather the profile of CWSNs, questions on the four factors, and recommendations; and a questionnaire for those who have received OT services but discontinued that will gather the profile of CWSNs, questions on the three factors (awareness of the profession excluded), and additional information. The questionnaires were sent to six schools in Dasmarinas, Cavite covering the entire population of schools with Special Education units. After gathering the data, frequency distribution method was used as a statistical analysis tool. Out of 61 respondents, 52 reported have financial concerns, 40 had problems with the availability of licensed OT practitioners, 12 were not well-aware with the OT profession, and 15 reported accessibility issues.
