Abstract
The study aimed to determine the common roles of a community health nurse and the significant differences in the roles of community health nurse as perceived by different native groups namely the Warays, Cebuanos, Ilocanos, Cavitenos and the Bicolanos. Data were gathered from 250 respondents who were regular clients of Rural Health Unit in DBB-E Dasmariñas, Bagong Bayan, Cavite. On the basis of the data gathered and analyzed by the researchers, the study revealed the following findings: 1. The respondents perceived that community health nurse's fucntions as health educator, coordinator, supervisor, client advocate, consultant, case finder amd environment modifier. 2. There is no significant differences in the perceoption of different native groups with regards to the roles of community health nurse residing in DBB-E Dasmwriñas, Bagong Bayan, Cavite. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the five native groups have the same perception with regards to the roles of community health nurse, thus accepting the null hypothesis. The five groups (Waray, Cebuanos, Bicolanos, Cavitenos and Ilocanos) perceived the roles of community health educator, coordinator, supervisor, client advocate, consultant, case finder, and environmental modifier in accordance with their cultural traits/backgrounds. This study revealed that the community health nurses in Rural Health Unit in DBB-E Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan, Cavite gave equal treatment to all their clients.
