Abstract

Specifically it aimed the following: 1. To determine the profile of the respondents when they are grouped according to sex, sibling position and academic performance. 2. To determine the profile of the father when they are grouped according to age, educational attainment, religion and annual family income. 3. To know the perception of the respondents in the role and care involvement they received from their fathers. 4. To determine the significant difference in the perception of the respondents regarding paternal role and care involvement when they are grouped according to sex, sibling position and academic performance. 5. To determine the significant difference in the paternal role and care involvement when they are grouped according to age, educational attainment, religion and annual family income. A sample of 100 students from two selected elementary schools in Dasmariñas were drawn using purposive random sampling The profile of respondents in both selected elementary school of Dasmariñas, Cavite showed that 34% were male and 66% female. 2. About 38% were the eldest, 36% second child, 10% third child, 4% fourth child, 3% fifth chilf, 1% sixth child, 2% eight child, 1% ninth child and 5% are the youngest. 3. Based on the academic performance 61% above average, 35% average, 4% below average. 4. For the profile of their fathers it was also revealed that 61% belongs to ages between 30-40, 37% for 41-50 years of age and 2% for 51-60 years of age. 5. In educational attainment 35% are college graduate, 12% college undergraduate, 23% high school graduate, 22% high school undergraduate, 7% elementary graduate, 1% elementary undergraduate. 6. About 89% are Catholic and 11% are non-Catholic. 7. In annual family income 8% falls on upper class, 31% middle class and 61% lower class. The study also revealed that the perception of the respondents when grouped according to sex has no significant difference mean level 2.49 and 2.53, in terms of sibling position F-prob = .5618 and in terms of academic performance there is highly significant difference with F-ratio = 7.8840, F-prob = .0007 The following conclusions were drawn: 1. In terms of sex majority of the respondents were female which is 66% and male 34%, in sibling position majority of the respondents were the eldest which is 38%, academic performance majority fall under above average. 2. Regarding the profile of the father majority of them fall under 30-40 years old, in terms of educational attainment most of them are college graduate, in terms of religion majority of them are Catholic and in terms of annual family income majority of them fall under low class with an income of P 100,000 below. 3. The overall mean level of perception of the respondents regarding paternal role and care involvement they received from their father was 2.51 which means always. 4. In terms of sex and sibling position of the respondents there was no significant difference in the perception while in academic performance there is a highly significant difference. 5. in terms of age, educational attainment, religion and annual family income there was no significant difference in the paternal role and care involvement..
