Abstract

This study utilized the descriptive research method which is designed to gather information about the present existing situations. The principal aim in employing this method is to describe the nature of a situation as it exists at the time of the stud and to explore the causes of a particular phenomena. Since the study dealt with the motivational factors affecting nursing elective of graduating BSN students, the stud focused in the fourth year BSN students of De La Salle University-Dasmarinas batch 1999. Consisting of 78 fourth ear nursing students, the fourth ear level is divided into 2 sections, only 74 of the students or 94.87% of the total population were taken as the respondents for the reason that the researchers were not included as respondents of the study. The instrument used in the stud was a questionnaire original done by the researchers. The researchers identified the nursing electives offered by the College of Nursing, and they are Community Nursing, Ward Nursing, Emergency Room Nursing, Intensive Care Unit Nursing, Operating Room Nursing, Nursing Education, Psychiatric Nursing, and Industrial Nursing. The respondents were asked to choose their chosen nursing elective from the options given. This instruction was done for the convenience of the respondents of the preliminary survey. The study concluded that there is no significant difference in the motivational factors of the fourth year nursing students batch 1999 to their chosen nursing electives as they are grouped according to extrinsic and intrinsic.
