Abstract

The study utilized a descriptive method of research. The respondents of this study were 100 adolescent to adulthood obstetric clients selected from DLSUMC, whether they are single or married, had elementary, high school or college level of education, who are employed or not. The researchers utilized three sets of questionnaires. The first one pertains to demographic data, the second tool in the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) by Goldberg and Hillier, and the third tool was the Conflict Tactic Scale (CTS) test by Straus. The statistical treatment used in the study were mean, t-test, f-test, and Pearson r. Most of the respondents were on the 31-45 age group or in the adult period of pregnancy, married, had reached college level, employed, wanted the pregnancy, and have 0-3 siblings. The obstetric clients who were mildly abused physically and psychologically have good mental health. Age, educational attainment and number of siblings of the respondents influence the level of physical and psychological abuse. The mental health status of the respondents is affected by age and educational attainment The physical and psychological abuse is significantly related to mental health status of obstetric clients.
