Abstract
Majority of the elderly belongs to the female, non-Catholics, single, elementary graduates, stayed in the institution more than 3 years, had no weekly visitors, and stayed due to lack of social support. In the pre-evaluation of the level of depression, majority of the elderly respondents suffers from extreme, severe and moderate depression. In the post-evaluation of the level of depression, there was no extreme depression among the respondents, the majority has moderate depression. There is a significant difference between the level of depression of the respondents before and after rendering psychosocial nursing interventions. In fact, the mean pre-evaluation score is higher that the post evaluation score which means that there have some improvements on the level of depression of the elderly after giving them psychosocial intervention. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected.
