Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the experiences of being a teenage mother at an early age. This purpose was achieved through a qualitative study which used the phenomenological approach through the personal interview with a person going through the experiences resulting in the phenomenological descriptions of themes of patterns which were bases from the lived experiences of teenage females in Dasmarinas and Imus, Cavite who became mothers at an early age by asking the grand tour question: "What are your parenting experiences as a teenage mother?" (Bilang isang teenager, anu-ani ang iyong karanasan sa pagiging isang magulang?) he participants of the study were teenage mothers with the age ranging from 13-21 years old, who had their first delivery between the age of 13-19 years old, may or may not be legally married, living with or not with partner, may or may not be studying, may or may not be working, maybe living with or supported by parents or living separately on their own and have the capacity and willingness to share their experiences. The participants' children should have an age 0f 1-3 years old. The study does not intend to generalize the experiences of all teenage mothers of the whole population since experience may vary depending on the time, situation and setting. Based on the extensive description, the experiences of teenage mothers were grouped into themes. The researchers identified 10 different themes. 1.Worth waiting for 2.Pandora's box 3.Unmet Expectations 4.Through the Fire 5.Wind beneath your wings 6.Breaking the Habits 7.Closer You and I 8.The Hands that Rocks the Cradle 9.Lucky Charm 10.Dream, Dream, Dream
