Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors affecting the perception on the effects of Virgin Coconut oil among early to middle adults in Dasmariñas, Cavite. B. SPECIFIC 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of gender, socio-economic status, educational attainment, family structure, health condition and religious affiliation? 2. What is the perception on the effects of virgin coconut oil among early to middle adults? 3. Are there significant differences in the perception in thAll the p-values were more than the 0.05 level of significance. This study focused on the factors affecting the perception of VCO users in selected areas in Dasmariñas, Cavite namely: Bgy. Saban, Bgy. San Jose, and the Town Proper (Zones 1-4). This study was limited to 200 respondents who belonged to early (20-39 year old) and middle (40-60 years old) adulthood stage. The areas were chosen because of the researchers' familiarity with the locations. It was convenient for the researchers to conduct data gathering during free hours since the areas were just near the campus. The researchers were also informed that there were qualified respondents for the study in the selected areas in Dasmariñas, Cavite. The respondents were males and females, who were either Catholics or non-Catholics, who were with or without illness/es, who were elementary undergraduates, elementary graduates, high school undergraduates, high school graduates, college undergraduates, college graduates. The major findings form the study were as follows: 1.When grouped according to gender, it showed that 66% of the respondents were females and 34% were males. In terms of socio-economic status, 39% of the respondents have a family monthly income of Php 10,000 and below, 21% has Php 11,000-15,000. About 13.5% has Php 16,000-20,000 and 26.50% of the respondents have Php 21,000. When grouped according to educational background, 2.50% of the respondents were elementary undergraduates, 8.50% were elementary graduates, 7% were high school undergraduates, 20% graduated from high school, 23% were college under graduates, 37.50% were college graduates and 1.5% had taken vocational courses. When grouped according to family structure, 61% of the respondents came from a nuclear type of family., 39% came from an extended type of family. In terms of health condition 69% of the respondents do not have a diagnosed illness while 31% do have a diagnosed illness. With regards to religious affiliation, 71% of the respondents were Catholics and 29% were non-Catholics. 2. The overall mean was 3.51,indicating that the perception on the effects of Virgin Coconut Oil among early to middle adults was very good. This suggests that many of them believe in the effectiveness of Virgin Coconut Oil. 3. There was no siginificant differences in the factors affecting the perception on the effects of Virgin Coconut Oil among early to middle adults in Dasmariñas, Cavite when they are grouped accordingly. The statistics gathered were as follows: gender, socio-economic status, educational attainment, family structure, health condition and religious affiliation respectively had the probability (p-value) of 0.36, 0.300, 0.537, 0.724, 0.734, and 0.850. All the p-values were more than the 0.05 level of significance.
