Abstract

This study aimed to 1) determine the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, length of hospitalization, civil status, religion, employment status, monthly income and educational attainment 2) determine the perception of patients on the carative behavior of staff nurses 3) determine if there are significant differences in the carative behavior of staff nurses to the patients confined in different wards in Philippine Orthopedic Center when grouped according to: Age, sex, length of hospitalization, religion, civil status, monthly income, employment status and educational attainment.  one hundred seventeen patients from Philippine orthopedic center were the respondents which are at least 15 years old and above and confined in different wards of the hospital for at least 5 days. A systematic type of sampling method was utilized in this research. Most of the respondents that consisted of patients who belong to 21 to 40 years old, group of young adults, males, married, catholic with educational attainment of high school level and mostly are unemployed, admitted for 5 to 16 days, and the monthly income is P5,000 and below. The patients confined in different wards of the Philippine Orthopedic Center perceived that the staff nurses were caring most of the time since they have the ability to carry out their potential by being sincere, gentle and kind in words and actions with others. They are committed and devoted to their work by attending to the needs of the client efficiently. They also empathize with their patient and respect their rights with regard to the patient's medical and nursing management.
