Sleep and rest pattern activities of patients diagnosed with cancer in selected hospitals and communities in Cavite

Abstract

The study used a quantitative descriptive type of research. The respondents of the study were patients diagnosed with cancer in Cavite. A total of 50 cancer patients were chosen using snowball sampling. This study used a self-made questionnaire as the data gathering tool to determine the sleep and rest pattern activities of patients diagnosed with cancer. The statistical equations utilized in the study are as follow: frequency distribution, mean, t-test and f-test. The conclusions state below were made based from the findings: 1) Majority of the respondents in age group of 41-65 years old were female, married, had a monthly income of Php10,000 and below, elementary graduate, Catholic, had stage 2 cancer and was diagnosed to have the disease in less than a year; 2) The respondents showed a moderate sleep and rest pattern activity; 3) The patients diagnosed with cancer in Cavite had the same moderate sleep and rest pattern activities regardless of age, gender, civil status, economic status, educational background, religious affiliation, stage of cancer and time span diagnosed with cancer.
