Abstract

This study utilized a non-experimental, comparative-descriptive type of research. The respondents were selected through a snowball sampling technique and the data was gathered through an adapted-modified questionnaire. The statistical treatments used in the study were percentage, frequency distribution, mean, f-test or analysis of variance and t-test. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were obtained: 1) Majority of mothers from different ethno-linguistic groups are 36 to 49 years old, college graduates, residing in Cavite for more than 2 years and less than 3 years, have monthly income of P20,000 and below, and have 2 or more alive children; 2) The mothers from different ethno-linguistic groups have high cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding; 3) The mothers from different ethno-linguistic groups with one or more children have the same level of cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding; 4) The mothers form different ethno-linguistic groups with age from 15 to 49 years old have the same level of cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding; 5) The mothers from different ethno-linguistic groups who are elementary, high school, college or vocational course graduates have the same level or cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding; 6) The mothers from different ethno-linguistic groups and socio-economic status have the same level of cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding; 7) The mothers from different ethno-linguistics groups have the same level of cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding; 8) The mothers from different ethno-lingustic groups staying in Cavite for less than a year but not more than 3 years have the same level of cultural beliefs regarding breastfeeding.
