Abstract

The descriptive type of research design was used in the study. The respondents were 100 gasoline employees with ages ranging from 20 and below up to 40 years old and above and chosen using purposive sampling. The instrument used to gather the necessary data was a self-made questionnaire. Data was analyzed through ANOVA, Cronbach’s alpha, frequency, mean, t-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The study concluded that, 1) Most of the respondents were in the middle adulthood stage of life, male, high school graduate and works at the gasoline station for 6 months and below; 2) The knowledge of the respondents regarding prevention of upper respiratory tract infection was high; 3) The practices of the respondents regarding prevention of upper respiratory tract infection are good; 4) There was no significant difference in the knowledge and practices regarding prevention of upper respiratory tract infection of employees working in various gasoline stations in Dasmarinas, Cavite when they are grouped according to age, gender, educational attainment and length of service; 5) There was significant relationship between knowledge and practices regarding prevention of upper respiratory tract infection among employees of selected gasoline stations in Dasmarinas, Cavite. The more knowledge the respondents have the better their practices are at preventing upper respiratory tract infection.
