Abstract

The study utilized a non-experimental descriptive type of research. The respondents of the study are composed of 100 adolescents whose age range from 13 to 21 years old. They are male or female who are residing in Barangay San Jose, Dasmarinas City, Cavite and were chosen using purposive sampling. The research instrument used is a self-made questionnaire composed of 20 items. The following statistical treatments were used to answer the specific problems in the study: relative frequency, mean, f-test and t-test. The study concluded that, 1) The majority of the respondents were 13-15 years old, male, with a monthly family income of P10,000 and below and Roman Catholic; 2) The factors such as food preferences, eating habits, social influences, and food availability and convenience have a low effect on the nutritional status of adolescents in Barangay San Jose, Dasmarinas City, Cavite; 3) There were no significant differences on the factors affecting the nutritional status of adolescents in Barangay San Jose, Dasmarinas City, Cavite when grouped according to age, monthly family income and religion. In terms of gender, there was a significant difference in the factors affecting the nutritional status of the adolescents in Barangay San Jose, Dasmarinas City, Cavite. Both have the same food preferences and food availability and convenience but female respondents have better eating habits and social influence than male respondents.
