Abstract

The study utilized a non-experimental correlation type of research using judgemental sampling. The respondents were composed of 85 female support staff of De La Salle University-Dasmarinas. Self-made research instrument was used for data gathering. The statistical treatments used were mean, t-test, f-test and correlational coefficient (Pearson’s R). The study concluded that, 1) Most of the 85 respondents were 30 to 39 years old, married, have monthly income of P20,0001 to P30,000, Catholic, and have family history of breast cancer; 2) The respondents have high level of awareness regarding breast self-examination; 3) The respondents have low level of compliance regarding breast self-examination; 4) There was no significant difference in the level of awareness with breast self-examination when the respondents were grouped according to age, civil status, monthly family income, religion and family history of breast cancer; 5) There was no significant difference in the level of compliance with breast self-examination when the respondents were grouped according to age, civil status, monthly family income, religion, and family history of breast cancer; 6) There was a significant relationship between the level of awareness and compliance with breast self-examination.
