Abstract

The study utilized the quantitative method of research, which involved 270 postpartum mothers with age range of 15-40 years old selected using stratified random sampling technique. The research was conducted at DBB-E, Dasmarians, Cavite in one (1) month. The self-made questionnaire consisted of three (3) sections: general information, knowledge on breastfeeding and compliance in breastfeeding. The statistical treatments used for data analysis were relative frequency, mean, Chi-square and Pearson’s r. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) Majority of the respondents are aged 15-40 years old, married, have a monthly income of P10,000 and below, finished high school education, have 1-2 children, employed and considered as well or healthy; 2) The level of knowledge of mothers regarding breast feeding at DBB-E, Dasmarinas, Cavite was found to be moderate; 3) The level of compliance of mothers in DBB-E, Dasmarinas, Cavite regarding breast feeding is often comply on breastfeeding; 4) The level of knowledge of mothers at DBB-E, Dasmarinas, Cavite was the same regardless of their age, educational attainment, occupation, civil status, health status, number of children, and family income; 5) The level of compliance of mothers regarding breastfeeding at DBB-E, Dasmarinas, Cavite is the same regardless of their age, educational attainment, occupation, civil status, health status, number of children, and family income; 6) There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of compliance of mothers regarding breastfeeding at DBB-E, Dasmarinas, Cavite.
