Abstract

Quantitative descriptive research design was used in this study. Using simple random sampling technique, 55 out of the 100 respondents were chosen in the study. They were residents of Brgy. Victoria Reyes Dasmarinas, Cavite, where the respondents’ health beliefs and practices in the utilization of lagundi was tested with the demographic variables specifically, age, gender, monthly family income, employment status and religion. The formulated tool utilized a 20-item questionnaire that evaluated the level of health beliefs and health practices of the respondents in the utilization of lagundi tablets. Data was analyzed through percentage, mean, t-test, f-test and Pearson r. The study concluded that, majority of the respondents belonged to age group of 20-45 years old, female, unemployed, had a total monthly income of P10,000 and below and Catholic. The respondents had moderately positive health benefits in terms of utilization of lagundi tablets. The respondents had a moderate level of health practice in terms of utilization of lagundi tablets. Demographic variables such as age, gender, monthly family income, employment, status, and religion were not predictors of the health beliefs in the utilization of lagundi tablets. The respondents’ age, and gender were predictors of the level of health practices in the utilization of lagundi tablets. There was not enough evidence to prove that the rest of the demographic variables could affect the level of health practices. Health beliefs were significantly related to the health practices of the respondents. A positive health belief translates to positive health practice.
